Comparative Study: Jesus On The Cross

The primary theme of this comparative study is the Crucifixion of Jesus. The Crucifixion of Jesus was one of the major events in the bible that has always been a frequent them in Christian art iconography. For example, many artists have sought to make art depicting the crucifixion of Jesus. In their representation of this event in the history of Christianity, there are a number of notable similarities and differences in their visual representation. This comparative study critically compares the similarities and differences between the three paintings by Salvador Dali, Hajime Sorayama, and Ming Zhong Wu. The three fascinating artists belong to different art genres namely Ming Zhong Wu(symbolist realism), Hajime Sorayama (surrealism) and Salvador Dali (surrealism).
